Sulfamonomethoxine Sodium Injection
Indications
Sulfonamide antibacterial drug.
Used for:
- Infections caused by susceptible bacteria
- Toxoplasmosis in pigs
Adverse Reactions
- Sulfonamides or their metabolites may precipitate in urine, especially at high doses or prolonged use, leading to:
- Crystalluria
- Hematuria
- Renal tubular obstruction
- Intravenous injection in horses may cause temporary paralysis
- This product is strongly alkaline and may cause tissue irritation
Precautions
- Do not dilute with 5% glucose solution due to crystal formation
- Long-term or high-dose use may cause crystalluria;
→ Administer sodium bicarbonate and ensure sufficient water intake - If allergic or severe reactions occur, discontinue immediately and treat symptomatically
