Indications
Sulfonamide antibacterial agent.
Used for the treatment of infections in livestock and poultry caused by Escherichia coli and Pasteurella spp.
Dosage and Administration
Calculated as this product.
- Oral administration (daily dose):
- Pigs and chickens: 32 mg per kg body weight
- Pigs: for 5–10 consecutive days
- Chickens: for 3–6 consecutive days
Adverse Reactions
Acute reactions mainly include allergic responses.
Chronic reactions may include granulocytopenia, thrombocytopenia, liver and kidney damage, and central nervous system toxicity.
Crystallization in urine may occur, especially with high doses or prolonged use.
Precautions
- Not for use in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption.
- Do not use as a long-term feed additive.
- May precipitate in the urinary tract; ensure adequate water intake. Sodium bicarbonate may be administered concurrently in long-term or high-dose use.
- Use with caution in animals with impaired renal function.
- May disrupt intestinal flora and reduce synthesis and absorption of Vitamin B and Vitamin K; supplementation is recommended.
