Pharmacological Action:
Glutaraldehyde is a disinfectant and preservative with broad-spectrum, high-efficiency, and rapid-acting properties. It exhibits strong bactericidal effects against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and is highly effective against bacterial vegetative forms, spores, viruses, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and fungi.
Indications:
Aldehyde disinfectant. Used for disinfection of rubber products, plastic materials, and surgical instruments.
Precautions:
- At normal concentrations, it may cause contact dermatitis or allergic skin reactions. Avoid contact with skin and mucous membranes.
Accidental ingestion may cause inflammation, necrosis, and ulceration of the gastrointestinal mucosa.
