Pharmacological Action
Lincomycin is a lincosamide antibiotic.
It is highly effective against:
- Staphylococcus
- Streptococcus
- Pneumococcus
- Mycoplasma
- Anaerobic bacteria
- Treponema hyodysenteriae
- Toxoplasma
It shows synergistic effect when combined with Spectinomycin.
Indications
Used for secondary bacterial infections associated with viral diseases such as:
- PRRS
- PCV (Porcine Circovirus)
- Swine influenza
- Pseudorabies
- Classical swine fever
- Parvovirus
Clinical signs include:
- High fever
- Loss of appetite
- Coughing and dyspnea
- Abdominal breathing
- Cyanosis of ears and abdomen
- Hemorrhagic spots
- Neurological signs
- Vomiting and diarrhea
Withdrawal Period
Pigs: 2 days
Precautions
Do not use with antidiarrheal drugs that inhibit intestinal motility.
